Ball valves are rather inexpensive devices for on/off applications. They are highly suitable for pipeline isolation to allow maintenance, flow blockage, change of flow and many other applications.
Ball valves are also known as quarter-turn valves, making them fast acting valves as they fully permit or restrict flow by a simple 90˚ turn of the lever. They are commonly actuated manually, however actuation can also be done pneumatically or electrically.
