Threaded excess flow valves for LPG surge protection

Excess flow valves are safety devices that check flow lines and protect against surges in which case they shut-off the flow. They are installed in flow lines and are designed specifically for pressure gauges, pipelines and tank nozzles.

Product description

Excess flow valves are spring actuated if a flow rate exceeds a predefined expected rate. The valves allow flow in both directions with the spring functionality only being in effect in the direction defined on the valve body. The valves will re-open once pressure equalisation has been achieved on either side of the valves, which the bleed-off can assist in reaching.

Did you know?

Every excess flow valve has a bypass feature not exceeding a #60 drill, which allows a small amount of product to pass downstream of the seat disc

The valve will automatically reset itself as the pressure will pass through the bypass area to reach the downstream side, which is then increased to match the pressure on the upstream side

NOTE: A threaded type, designed to be installed in a threaded flange, is available from 2" to 8"

Normally open and bi-directional, these valves will shut the flow if the rate of flow exceeds an expected rate, until the pressure is close to equalised.
